Hadrat Sayyiduna Junaid Al Baghdadi – may Allah be pleased with him – narrates:
We were once sitting among our friends and discussing the life of the pious servants of Allah Almighty.
In this regard, Hadrat Sayyiduna Sirri Saqti – may Allah be pleased with him – revealed:
Once, I was sitting in an open area near the Baitul Muqaddas and this year, I did not perform Hajj. I was also extremely regretful of this fact. There were only ten days left for Hajj and many people had started their journey for the Baitullah many months prior to this. I was so sad that I missed the Hajj this year that I began to weep. Suddenly, I heard a voice say to me, “O Sirri Saqti! There is no doubt that Allah Almighty has allocated such special people to you who will certainly take you to perform the Hajj.” I also wondered how this would happen especially because the journey was very long and there were only ten days left.
Again the Voice said to me, “Do not be concerned, Allah Almighty will certainly bring ease to your difficulty.”
I then fell into Sajdah giving thanks for this Divine Bounty. I then waited for this miracle to happen. Suddenly, I saw four young people entering the Masjid. Their faces were so bright that it seemed like the sun was revolving around their faces. Among them, there was also a leader who walked in first and the others followed him. All of them had clothes made from animal hair and they also had shoes made from the leaves of the date tree.
They entered the same open area where I was and began to make Du’a. The entire Masjid was filled with Nur from their Du’a. I also went and stood with them. I said, “O Allah! Perhaps these are the people that were promised to me and whose blessed company I had been told about.”
They then entered the area of the Mimbar and their leader was still in front. Each one of them then recited a two rak’ah of Salaah and then their leader picked up his hand to make Du’a. I also went nearer to hear the Du’a that was being made by this young man. He was extremely modest and recited the Takbeer. He then read such Salaah which overwhelmed my heart and mind. When he had completed the Salaah, he sat on one side and the other three also sat in front of him. I then approached them and made Salaam. The leader among them replied, “Peace be upon you, O Sirri Saqti! O that blessed person who was blessed with an invisible voice today giving him glad tidings that even this year, his Hajj will not be missed.”
When I heard his voice, I came close to losing my senses and my heart was filled with joy and happiness. I then said, “Yes my master! A few minutes earlier, I did receive news of your arrival.”
The young leader of these blessed people then said to me, “O Sirri Saqti! Just a few minutes earlier, we were in Khurasaan going towards Baghdad Shareef. We then completed what needed to be completed and decided to travel to the Baitullah. After that, it was our intention to visit the blessed graves of the Prophets in Syria and then come to Baitul Muqaddas.”
I then asked, “O my master! What were you doing in Khurasaan?”
He replied, “We had travelled with our religious companions Hadrat Sayyiduna Ebrahim bin Adham – may Allah be pleased with him – and Hadrat Sayyiduna Ma’ruf Kharkhi – may Allah be pleased with him – with the purpose of coming to the Haram Shareef. They then left on their own to some village and we had decided to come to the Haram Shareef.”
I then said, “The journey from Khurasaan to Baitul Muqaddas is nearly a one year journey”.
He replied, “Even if it is a journey of a thousand years, the slave belongs to Him, the earth belongs to Him, the heavens belongs to Him, the House belongs to Him, the intention is also to visit Him, therefore, the power to be able to arrive there, also belongs to Him. Have you not seen how the sun travels from one part of the earth to another in one single day? Does it travel on its own accord or does it travel with the Divine Power of Allah? When the sun, which is an inanimate object which will not even give account for its actions or will not even be punished, can travel from one part of the earth to the other part on the earth in one single day, what is so surprising if His slaves are able to travel from Khurasaan to Baitul Muqaddas in one single day? Allah has Power of all things. Unusual events happen through His Power. O Sirri Saqti! Avoid the disgraceful things in this world and the next and adopt those things which would bring you respect and honour in both worlds.”
I then said, “May Allah Almighty Allah bestow His Divine Grace on you. Please guide me on those things which will bring respect in both worlds”.
He replied, “That person who achieves riches without wealth, knowledge without seeking it, respect without family connections. If a person wishes for these things, then he should clear his heart of love for this world. He should not turn to the world or pay any attention towards it. He should not be satisfied with the world. The reason is that the sweet drink of the world is something which is contaminated and in its sweetness there is bitterness.”
I asked, “O my master! I swear by Allah, please reveal to me the secret which Allah Almighty has blessed your heart with and where do you intend to go?”
He replied, “Our intention is to visit the Baitullah and the blessed grave of the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him.”
I then said, “By Allah! I will never separate myself from you. The reason is that to separate myself from you is even more difficult than the soul leaving the body.”
He then recited the ‘Bismillah’ and we all followed him. We continued to walk until he said to me, “O Sirr Saqti! The time for Zohar has arrived. Shall we not perform the Zohar?”
I said that certainly we should perform the Zohar. I decided to make Tayammum because I could see no water around the area. However, he said to me. “There is a spring of water in this area.”
He then moved away from the actual path and took me to a small spring of fresh water. The water was sweeter than honey. I made Wudu and also drank some of the water. I also mentioned that I had travelled many times on this road but had never seen this spring before.
He gave Praise to Allah Almighty and mentioned that indeed Allah Almighty is Very Kind on His slaves. We then read the Zohar Salaah and continued until the time of Asar. Suddenly, I could see the familiar mountains around Mecca Shareef. I then mentioned this to him and he said to me, “Yes, we have arrived in the blessed city of Mecca Shareef.”
We then entered through one of the doors of the Haram and I could see two people in front of us. One was elderly and the other was younger in age. When they saw these four people arriving, they stood up and embraced them. I decided to ask the young leader who these blessed people were. He replied, “The elderly person is Hadrat Sayyiduna Ebrahim bin Adham – may Allah be pleased with him – and the younger person Hadrat Sayyiduna Ma’ruf Kharkhi – may Allah be pleased with him.
We read the Maghrib and Esha together and all of them performed their Salaah as per their own spiritual power. However, when I went into Sajdah, I felt extreme drowsiness and when I regained my strength, I noticed that no one was standing near me. I stood sadly alone in that area. I also searched for them in the Haram Shareef, in Mecca Shareef and in Mina Shareef but could not find them. I also wept a lot when I realised that I was no longer in their blessed company.” (Ar Roud Al Faa’i
