Hadrat Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Husain narrates that he once had a non-Arab servant.

 

One night she awoke from her sleep, performed the Wudu and stood up for Salaah. When she had completed her Salaah, she then went into Sajdah and then began to say, “O my Lord! By that love which You have for me, please pardon me.”

 

I then said to her, “May Allah Almighty have Mercy on you. You should not say as you did, but rather you should say, ‘By that love which I have for You because there is a possibility that  Allah Almighty does not like you.’

 

She then said to me, “O my master, if He did not love me, He would not have made you to remain sleeping and made me stand in front of Him. It is His Divine Mercy that He has removed me from the land of the disbelievers and brought me into the land of the believers.”

 

When I heard this, I declared, “Go, for the Divine Pleasure of Allah Almighty I have freed you.”

 

he then said, “O my master, you have not done good to me. Prior to this I used to receive two rewards and now I will only receive one single reward.”

 

She then screamed and said, “This is freedom from my little master, imagine how it would be when the real Owner frees us.”

 

She then fell on the ground and passed away.

 

By Allah, these are the qualities of the true lovers of Allah Almighty. Their heart is always filled with love for Allah Almighty.

 

Someone once asked a Saint one day as to how he had gained this love for Allah Almighty, he replied, “I was standing on the shore of the ocean in such a place where there were no two corners, it was then that the Divine Being blessed me with His closeness by declaring, ‘He who moves towards Me merely by a palm length, I move towards him an arm’s length.’” (Jamia Tirmidi Shareef, #3603, pg. 2022)
