It is mentioned that Umar bin Hubairah was considered as one of the most tyrannical rulers of the Ummayyad dynasty. This is that person who ordered that Imam A’zam – may Allah be pleased with him – be whipped in public.

 

This is also that person who called Shaikhul Hadith, Hadrat Mansur bin Mu’tamar – may Allah be pleased with him, to accept the position of the Chief Justice. However, this eminent scholar replied, “I will never ever accept this position because it is the statement of the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – that on the Day of Judgement, a caller on behalf of Allah Almighty will call to all those who helped and assisted an oppressor, and those who aided him, those who were part of his group, even those who gave him a pen and even ink, they will all be called together and locked in a box and thrown into Hell.”

 

When Umar bin Hubairah heard these words, he threw the eminent scholar out of his court.

This is certainly a lesson for those so-called Islamic scholars who continue to help and support tyrannical leaders and kings. Bear in mind that as long as you help these people, you are also part of tyranny. At the same time, they turn a blind eye to whatever is going on around them and continue to give their vote to these tyrants. In spite of the fact that they should completely boycott these oppressors, they sell their Imaan for a few coins and thereby destroy their Hereafter. They even speak lies about what is going in the country and convey wrong messages to the outsiders. They completely ignore the fact that one day, they will have to face their Creator.
