Hadrat Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah – may Allah be pleased with him – narrates that one day Sayyiduna Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – was describing Jannah. At that moment, there was also a villager or Bedouin who was also present. Sayyiduna Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – mentioned, “There will be a person in Jannah who will ask, ‘O Allah! I wish to do farming (cultivating the soil)’. He will be told that there is everything in Jannah which a person wishes for.

He will reply, ‘Without doubt, everything is present, however, I wish to cultivate the land’. Suddenly seeds will be planted for him and within a few seconds the seeds would sprout and within a few seconds, it will turn to wheat and (the amount of wheat) would be the size of a mountain. Allah Almighty will then say, ‘O ibn Adam, you are never satisfied.’ When he heard these words, the villager spoke out, ‘This cultivation will only be done by either the Quraish or the Ansaar because they are people who are farmers. We are not farmers (and neither do we cultivate the land).’ When Sayyiduna Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – heard these words, he smile broadly. (Sahih Bukhari Shareef)
