Download PDF: [S] He will Speak after his Death (Islamic story)
It is reported from Hadrat Sayyiduna Abdul Malik bin Umair – may Allah be pleased with him – that they were three brothers. The second brother was extremely pious. He used to fast during the day and stay awake the entire night in the Ibadah of Allah Almighty.
He narrates:
I stayed away from home for many years and lived in Iraq. When I returned, I was informed by my family that my brother had passed away. I ran towards his residence and noticed that they were covering his blessed body with a shawl. I sat at his head side and began to weep.
He raised his hand and removed the cover from his face and greeted me. I then asked him, “Are you alive even after death?”
He replied that he was indeed alive. He mentioned that he had met his Creator with immense peace and safety and that his Lord was not angry with him. He had also been adorned with silk and other clothing. He found it very easy (on the other side) and mentioned these words thrice, “Therefore continue to practise and do not be deceived.”
He also said the following words twice, “I had met Sayyiduna Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – and the Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – had sworn to me that he would indeed visit him. Therefore, please hurry in my burial.”
He then kept silent. I then advised my family to perform his burial rites as quickly as possible. (Imam Bahiqi in the Dalaa’il)
Further explanation on this issue.
Hadrat Sayyiduna Abdullah – may Allah be pleased with him – presents a long chain or narrators and then admits that Hadrat Sayyiduna Rabee bin Haraash – may Allah be pleased with him – reveals that, “I had a brother who used to even fast when it was extremely hot and during the coldest of nights, he used to stay awake in Ibadah.” The rest of the story is as mentioned above.
When this incident was related to the Mother of the Faithful, Sayyidah Ayesha – may Allah be pleased with her – she authenticated this incident and also said that they used to hear that there will be a person in this Ummah who will speak even after he passes away. (Sunan Daarimi)
Another incident is reported that once ibn Haraash had made a promise that he will never laugh or smile until he does not become aware of whether he will enter Jannah or Hell. He spent his entire life in this state and in spite of people trying to make him laugh, he refused to laugh. It is reported that he only laughed after he had passed away. The rest of the incident is as mentioned above.
When this incident was presented to the blessed Mother of the Faithful – may Allah be pleased with him – she replied that, “I had heard from Sayyiduna Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – that there will be a person in my Ummah who will speak after he dies and he will be a most notable person among the Taaba’een”.
