It is reported that once a Saint saw a person who carrying an extremely old lady on his back. Wherever he went, he also carried this old lady on his back. The Saint asked him who this and he replied that this was his old mother and he had carried her in this fashion for nearly seven years. He then asked the Saint a very important question which modern day Muslims also tend to ask.  He asked, “O Shaikh! Have I fulfilled my rights to my mother and have I been released of this duty which is Fard upon me?”

 

The Saint replied, “No, no. Even if you live a thousand years you will never be able to repay her for even one night in which she spent taking care of you and feeding you.”

 

When the person heard this, he wept as he was leaving that place. (Qalyubi)
