It is mentioned that once the famous Islamic scholar and authority, namely Hadrat Sayyiduna Abu Sulayman Daraani – may Allah be pleased with him, was travelling with Imam Ahmed bin Hawaari – may Allah be pleased with him – to Mecca Shareef. On the road, the water bottle got lost. At that moment, Hadrat Sayyiduna Abu Sulayman Daraani – may Allah be pleased with him – made Du’a, “O that Divine Being Who is able to give those things which are lost, please allow our water bottle to return.” Suddenly, a few moments later a person appeared with a water bottle in his hand and asked who it belonged to. The person then handed over the water bottle.

 

As they walked forward, they noticed someone who was on the road. It was also extremely cold and the person only had two thin pieces of cloth covering him. The people in the caravan on the other hand were fully covered with warm clothing. The strange part is that they this person was also perspiring in this immense cold. When Imam Daraani – may Allah be pleased with him – saw him, he asked the person whether he needed some clothing to protect himself from the cold. The person took him to one side and said to him, “The cold and heat are all creation of Allah. And if He commands, all of these clothing will appear in front of me and if He commands, all of them will disappear. For thirty years I have been in this barren land and I have never shivered in the cold nor suffered in the heat. During winter, I am kept warn through the heat of Divine Love and during summer, I am kept cool through the coolness of His Divine Love. O Daraani, you are pointing at the clothes and refrain from Zuhd? You complain that the cold is troubling you?”

 

Hadrat Sayyiduna Imam Daraani – may Allah be pleased with him – admits that no one in the entire caravan knew who he was, yet this person had clearly revealed his identity.

 

This saint was giving advice to one of the greatest scholars of his era that in spite of what we are going through, we should have complete trust in the Allah Almighty.

 

It is mentioned that once a Saint was making Tawaaf of the Ka’ba and every few minutes he removed a paper from this pocket and after looking at it, he placed it back in his pocket. Another pious person was watching him all the time. A few days later, he noticed that this person had passed away and when he removed the piece of paper from the Saint’s pocket, he saw written on it the following words, “Have patience in the Divine Command of Allah. Without doubt, He is watching you.”
