It is reported that Abdullah bin Jad’aan bin Ka’ab was related to Hadrat Sayyiduna Abu Bakr – may Allah be pleased with him – and was also regarded as his uncle. In the days of ignorance, Abdullah bin Jad’aan bin Ka’ab was famous for feeding people and was also highly respected for his kindness towards the poor and the people in general. At the beginning, Abdullah bin Jad’aan bin Ka’ab was very poor and had some bad habits and when this reached a very high level, the people around began to look at him with dislike and hatred. His own family also greatly disliked him.
One day, in this state of disappointment, Abdullah bin Jad’aan bin Ka’ab left his house and began to walk around the wild. As he walked around, he noticed a cave in the side of a mountain. He thought that perhaps there was a dangerous animal in this cave and it was also better that he died than face the scorn of his tribe. Abdullah bin Jad’aan bin Ka’ab then entered this cave without any fear knowing that he was going to be killed any moment.
As he entered the cave, he noticed a dangerous snake which seemed like it was going to attack him. However, he displayed no fear and walked quickly towards this snake. As he came face to face with this snake, he was shocked to see that it was made from pure gold and its eyes were also made from rubies. He then entered this cave.
He noticed that inside the grave, there were a few graves of the old Kings from the Bani Jarham. One of the graves was also of someone who had disappeared many years ago and no one knew as to where this person had disappeared to.
He also found a record next to one of the graves on which was recorded the history of these Kings. He also found a large amount of gold, diamonds and other precious items. Abdullah bin Jad’aan bin Ka’ab then left the cave with a large amount of this wealth making sure that he concealed its entrance and also placing a mark on the entrance which was only known to him.
When Abdullah bin Jad’aan bin Ka’ab returned to his family and tribe, he also gave them a lot of this wealth. Suddenly people began to think of him as their beloved family member and also began to consider him as their leader.
