Download PDF: [S] Do not Wail over the Deceased (Islamic story)
Hadrat Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Mas’ud – may Allah be pleased with him – narrates that six days before the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – could pass away, all of them were gathered in the blessed house of Sayyidah Ayesha – may Allah be pleased with her.
When the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – saw us, his eyes filled with tears. He then said, “Welcome to all of you. May Allah Almighty keep you alive. May Allah Almighty protect you. May Allah Almighty safeguard you. May Allah Almighty help you. May Allah Almighty give you an elevated status. May Allah Almighty give you guidance. Allah Almighty keep you in peace and may Allah Almighty give you guidance. I give you advice to fear Allah Almighty and I give you to Allah Almighty. I nominate you as the vicegerents of Allah Almighty on earth. I am someone who brings you warning and advice. Do not oppress the creation of Allah Almighty and the cities of Allah Almighty.”
He then said, “The time has come near to leave. The time to return to Allah Almighty has come near towards Sidratul Muntaha and towards Jannatul Maawaa and towards the Divine Friend.”
Hadrat Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Mas’ud – may Allah be pleased with him – narrates that they asked him who would give him Ghusal and he replied that the people of his household would do so.
We then asked him what should be used as a Kafan and replied, “If you wish in the same clothes (I am wearing), or Yemeni shawl or a white Egyptian cloth.”
We then asked him, “Who will perform your Janazah Salaah?” And when we uttered these words, all of us began to weep.
The Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – then declared, “Wait, may Allah Almighty pardon all of you and give you immense reward on behalf on your Nabi. When you people have completed the Ghusal then you should leave me on the head side in my room. The first people that will perform my Janazah are the Angels and thereafter, you people should enter in groups and recite the Durood and Salaam upon me and none of you should wail and cause trouble to me.” (Imam Bazzaaz, Hayaat As Sahaabah)
From this, we also clearly come to understand that the act of wailing is certainly Haraam and causes nothing but inconvenience and harm to the deceased. This also proves the immense inconvenience the Shia are causing near the blessed grave of Imam Husain – may Allah be pleased with him – and the amount of sin and transgression which is being earned by them on a daily basis.
Again as we have said, when a person is meant to enter the Fire of Hell, ways and means are created for him or her to do so and when a person is destined to enter Jannah way and means are created for them to enter Jannah. History has proven that ways and means have always been created for the true believer to enter Jannah. Therefore, when we see these people doing things or committing actions which make no sense to us and which clearly contradict Shari’ah, we should not be surprised. As we have said, ways and means are being created for them to enter the Fire of Hell.
