It was the day of Eid and the children with their parents were busy in purchasing new clothes for this great occasion. At the same time, they were also dressing themselves in the best of clothing. They were greeting each other and also congratulating each other on this occasion. However, there was one servant of Allah Almighty who was extremely concerned and sad on this occasion.

 

Hadrat Sayyiduna Sirri Saqti – may Allah be pleased with him – narrates that, “I noticed that on the day of Eid, Hadrat Sayyiduna Mar’uf Kharkhi – may Allah be pleased with him – was choosing dates and I asked him the reason for this. He replied, ‘The reason is that the little child standing in front of me is sad is because he is an orphan and he can see that all of the other children are dressed in the best of clothing. He has no such clothes to wear. I also have the intention that he should also dress with new clothes, hence, I am picking these dates so that I will be able to sell them at a good price and buy some clothes for this orphan.’”

 

Hadrat Sayyiduna Sirri Saqti – may Allah be pleased with him – narrates, “This task can be completed by me also. Why are you troubling yourself with this?” I then took the little boy and bought him some new clothing. However, the amazing thing is that the moment I did this, my spiritual state began to increase to amazing levels.” (Tadkiratul Awliya, 159)
