Hadrat Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amar – may Allah be pleased with him – narrates: “One day, my father and I were plastering our house with some mud. At that moment, the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – walked past asked, ‘O Abdullah! What is this?’ I replied, ‘O Prophet of Allah, we are fixing it.’ He then declared, “Death arrives even more quickly than this.” (Abu Daud, Tirmidi Shareef)

 

Hadrat Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah – may Allah be pleased with him – narrates that once the Angel of Death appeared to take away the soul of Nabi Moosa – peace be upon him. When he appeared in front of Nabi Moosa – peace be upon him, Nabi Moosa – peace be upon him – gave him a slap. The Angel of Death then returned to Allah Almighty and informed Allah Almighty that He had sent him to a slave of His who does not wish to die.

 

Allah Almighty commanded him to go again and ask him to place his hand over the back of an ox and as much hair appears under his hand, he will live for so many more years.

 

The Angel of Death then reappeared in front of Nabi Moosa – peace be upon him – and informed him what Allah Almighty said. Nabi Moosa – peace be upon him – then asked, “And then what will happen after that?’

 

The Angel of Death replied that after that, Allah Almighty has declared that you will then die.

 

When he heard this, Nabi Moosa – peace be upon him – then informed him that he could take his life immediaitely. At that moment also, Nabi Moosa – peace be upon him – also pleaded to Allah Almighty that his body is moved as close as possible to the Baitul Muqaddas. In fact, he asked that his body be moved as much as the distance as one throws a stone. This plea was accepted by Allah Almighty and his death happened as close to the Baitul Muqaddas as possible. The Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – also mentioned that his body is near the pathway and is close to a reddish heap of sand.

 

In another report, it is narrated by Hadrat Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah – may Allah be pleased with him – that the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – has stated that, “The Angel of Death appeared to Nabi Moosa – peace be upon him – to take away his soul and asked him to accompany him to His Lord. At that moment, Nabi Moosa – peace be upon him – slapped the face of the Angel of Death and with the result, he also burst the eye of the Angel of Death.” (Sahih Bukhari Shareef, Sahih Ibn Habban, Sahih Muslim Shareef, Imam Ahmed, Abdur Razaq, etc).
