Download PDF: [S] Allah sends Sustenance for Creation
It is reported that one day, there was a certain Saint who was in the Haram Shareef. He had divorced himself from everything and only spent his time in Ibadah. He used to fast during the day and every evening, there was a person who used to bring him two pieces of bread. He used to make Iftaar with this and spend the rest of the night in Ibadah.
One day, he thought to himself, “What type of reliance is this on Allah Almighty that every day I need this person to bring me two pieces of bread and yet Allah Almighty sends sustenance to every creature.”
That evening, when the person came with the two pieces of bread, he turned him away and mentioned that he did not require this bread any longer. In this manner, three days went by and he did not get anything. Obviously by now, he was extremely hungry and complained to Allah Almighty.
One night, in a dream, Allah Almighty asked him, “I had sent sustenance to you through one of My slaves, why did you turn him away?”
The Saint replied, “O my Lord! I had come to the conclusion that I should not rely on anyone except You.”
Allah Almighty then asked him, “Who sends the two pieces of bread to you every day?”
The Saint replied, “O my Lord, You are the One that sends this to me.”
Allah Almighty then commanded him to accept whatever came from His Divine Court and not to turn the person away.
At the same time, the saint also saw the person who used to bring him the bread also present himself in the Divine Court. Allah Almighty then asked this person, “Why did you stop giving that person the two pieces of bread?”
The person replied, “O my Lord! You are fully aware of the reason.”
Allah Almighty then asked him, “O My slave! Who do you give these two pieces of bread to everyday?”
The person replied, “O My Lord, I give them to You.”
After hearing this, Allah Almighty declared, “Continue doing what you used to do and for this there is Jannah in return.’ (Roudur Riyaheen)
