It is mentioned that there was a person whose family owned only one cow. At the same time, it is mentioned that even the dough seems wet when one is in extreme poverty.

In desperation, this poor person had to sell this cow. The amount of money he received for this cow was three thousand Dirhams. He then placed this money very carefully in a piece of cloth and hid it in his clothing. As he returned to his residence, he realised that this was the last thing which his family had and after this, it would be difficult for them to earn any income. He also realised that his wife would be extremely disappointed that he had to sell this cow.

When he went home, his wife was shocked to see that he had sold the only cow they had had and she made it very clear that this was their only possession. However, he assured her that she should not worry and that the Allah Almighty would find some way to save them.

The name of this poor person was Abul Hasan. While the husband and wife was sitting in the room thinking about ways and methods of coming out of this poverty their attention also turned to their small baby who was laying on their bed. The wife also started to feed the little baby. Suddenly, they heard a knock on the door.

When Abul Hasan opened the door, he noticed a person standing in front who looked like a traveller. This person was also shivering with the cold and rain outside. He said, “I am a stranger in this town and have decided to seek shelter in your house. I also do not know anyone in this town. I am also on the way to Hums.”

Abul Hasan replied, “What arrangement can we make for you. Our house is so small that it does not allow us to keep any guest.”

The stranger said, “You only have to protect me against the cold. This is enough for me. Give me permission to stay for the night only and besides this, I have no idea for anything else. I also promise not to put you people in any other expense.”

Abul Hasan then explained that they only had one single room in their house in which he slept with his wife and little baby and therefore, it would be difficult to entertain this person in their small house.

The stranger insisted, “All you have to do is place a pardah between me and you and I will sleep on one side of this room.”

When his wife heard this plea, she mentioned to her husband, “Let us allow him in the house, surely the Allah Almighty will give us more Barakah. Maybe by helping this stranger, Allah Almighty will also bestow His Divine Grace upon us.”

They then welcomed the stranger in their house and prepared a sleeping area for him. A few minutes later, Abul Hasan and his wife were fast asleep due to the hard work they had performed in the fields the same day.

However, the stranger was still awake. When he realized that the husband and wife were fast asleep, he slowly went to where the little baby was sleeping. He picked up the baby very slowly and went outside and left this baby in the rain. He then came quickly into the room and acted like he was fast asleep.

However, the little baby began to feel the cold, and began to scream and cry. When the parents heard this, they immediately started to search for the child and when they could not find the little child in the house, they went outside. They were shocked to see that the little baby was in the rain. They then picked up the little baby and as they were returning to their house, the roof of the house collapsed and the entire house fell into a heap of rubble.

Obviously, all the neighbours also came running to see whether they could help. Abul Hasan then mentioned that he was extremely worried because they had a guest inside the house. As they began to clear the rubble, they finally managed to find this person on his bed, but he was already dead. The most shocking thing is that in his hands, they found the purse where Abul Hasan had left the three thousand Dirhams after selling his cow. In other words, this person was in the process of stealing this last monies of theirs.

In fact, when they started to find out further, they realised that this person had actually seen Abul Hasan selling this cow and had also seen that he had placed it in a special part of his clothing. Since, he could not steal it directly, he decided to follow Abul Hasan and also see where he lived. When he saw this, he decided to approach them as if he was a stranger in town.

Another plan of his was to make sure that when the couple go outside to fetch the little baby that was the time he would make his escape. But Allah Almighty did not allow this to happen. Such was the punishment of Allah Almighty on this person that the entire house collapsed over him. At the same time, if these people had lost their last monies, there would have been no one who would have been able to help and assist them.

A person can become oblivious and forgetful, however, Allah Almighty certainly free of these defects. When the people began to investigate this issue, they realised that no one can escape from the Divine Power of Allah Almighty. When this person was trying to run away, he had completely forgotten that the All Seeing Creator was also watching.

Such is the manner of people in the present day as well. Not only do they try to steal the wealth and property of people without any concern, but they are also trying to steal the Imaan of people on a daily basis. In fact, these people who try to steal the Imaan of people would get even greater punishment than this person in this story. The reason that they also try to steal the Imaan of people is because they have also been informed by their ‘peer’ Satan, that this is the greatest and most valuable possession of anyone. Hence, you would find that governments and organizations are spending millions on a daily basis spreading corrupt beliefs through all types of media to confuse the Sunni Muslim public.

Hence, the Sunni Muslim public should always be aware of these people who come knocking on the door with false pretences and act like they are suffering from the cold outside but in the meantime, they only wish to enter the house of an innocent Muslim with the intention of robbing him of his Imaan and true belief. The more we are aware of this threat from the outside and sometimes from the inside, the better protected we are in safeguarding our Imaan.

Be aware also that people are also looking at you to see where you are also hiding your Imaan and when they see this, they become your good friends so that they can pass on their poisonous material to you. As we have already mentioned on countless occasions, the greatest possession which you have is your Imaan. Therefore, it is vitally important that you protect and safeguard this at all times.
