It is mentioned that on the day when Mecca Shareef was conquered, Akramah had martyred a certain Muslim.

 

When Sayyiduna Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – heard this news, he smiled and said, “The killer and the one killed are both in Jannah.” In other words, he was indicating to the fact that very soon Akramah would accept Islam and this is exactly what happened. Hadrat Sayyidah Umme Salamah – may Allah be pleased with her – narrates that once Sayyiduna Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – informed them that he had seen a garden in Jannah for Abu Jahl. When, Akramah bin Abi Jahl accepted Islam, he mentioned to the pious lady that this was the interpretation of that dream. (Al Usaabah; Seerat Al Mustafa)

 

It is mentioned that later when Hadrat Sayyiduna Akramah bin Abu Jahl – may Allah be pleased with him – used to recite the Qur’an, he used to weep with immense feeling and emotion and used to keep saying, “This is the Divine Word of my Lord, this is the Divine Word of my Lord.” (Ihya; Seerat Al Mustafa)

 

Ka’ab bin Zuhair used to write poems insulting the dignity of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him. In fact, he was one of those people whom Sayyiduna Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – had mentioned that it was Halaal for this person to be killed if he is caught when they enter Mecca Shareef. However, on that day, he ran away from Mecca Shareef. Later on, Sayyiduna Ka’ab bin Zuhair – may Allah be pleased with him – returned to Madina Shareef and accepted Islam. He also wrote a Qasidah praising Sayyiduna Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – which became very famous. Sayyiduna Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – was so pleased with him that he gave him his shawl as a gift. (Seerat Al Mustafa)

 

Hadrat Sayyiduna Abbas – may Allah be pleased with him – narrates:

 

“On the day when Mecca Shareef was conquered, Sayyiduna Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – asked me where my two nephews were and I replied that they had gone into hiding. (The reason was because they had not yet accepted Islam).

 

“Sayyiduna Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – then asked me to go and bring them to him. I then went to Arafah where they were hiding and brought them back to Mecca Shareef. Sayyiduna Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – presented the message of Islam to them and they accepted Islam and also swore allegiance to Sayyiduna Rasoolullah – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him.

 

“He then held their hands and went towards the door of the Ka’ba and made Du’a for a long time. He then returned and his face was full of joy and happiness. I then said to him that may Allah keep him happy always. I then asked the reason for this happiness and he replied, ‘I had asked Allah Almighty for both sons of my uncle and He had given both of them to me and he has also given both of them to me as a gift.’” (Al Khasaais Al Kubra; Seerat Al Mustafa)
