Hadrat Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah – may Allah be pleased with him – narrates that once a person informed the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him-, “O Prophet of Allah! There is a neighbour of mine who troubles me a lot and I have become helpless against him in this regard.” The Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – replied, “Go and take the items in your house and leave it on the road.”

 

This person then went and took all the items in his house and placed it outside his house and also sat at that spot. When the people walked past, they inquired, “What is the problem that your goods are outside and you are sitting here?”

 

The person replied, “I have a neighbour who is causing trouble to me and I have complained to the Holy Prophet – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – and he has instructed me to leave my goods outside and sit at this spot.”

 

When the people heard this, they declared, “O Allah, please curse this neighbor! O Allah, please disgrace this neighbor!” When the neighbour heard about this, he approached the person and said, “Please come inside your house. I swear by Allah that I will never trouble you again.”
