And what do you know – of what sort is the Day of Justice!

Again, what do you know – of what sort is the Day of Justice!

The day on which no soul will have the authority over any other soul; and on that day, the entire command belongs to Allah.

Tafsir al-Kabeer

The majority of scholars are of the opinion that the repetition of the verses in this instance (Verse 17, 18) is there to denote the greatness of that Day.

Tafsir al-Kabeer (Mafateeh al-Ghaib) of Imam Fakhruddin Muhammad ibn Umar al-Raazi al-Shafe’i t D. 606 A.H.

Tafsir al-Jalalain

[It is] a day when no soul will be of any avail, any use, to another soul, and the [absolute] command on that day will be Allah’s: there will be no [power of] command for anyone other than Him thereat, in other words, none has been given the power to mediate thereupon, in contrast to [situations] in this world.

Tafsir al-Jalalain of Imam Jalaaluddin Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Mahalli al-Shafe’i t D. 864 A.H. and Imam Jalaaluddin Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Bakr al-Suyooti al-Shafe’i t D. 911 A.H.
