ہَلْ اَتٰىکَ حَدِیۡثُ الْغٰشِیَۃِ ؕ﴿۱﴾
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you!
Tafsir al-Tabari تفسیر الطبری
Sayyiduna Ibn ‘Abbas – may Allah be pleased with him – is reported to have said: Al-Ghashiyah is one of the names of Doomsday. Allah Almighty has signified it and warned His servants about it.
Tafsir Al-Tabari (Tafsir Ibn Jareer / Jame’ al-Bayaan fi Taweel al-Quraan) of Imam Abu Ja’far Muhammad ibn Jareer al-Tabri t D. 310 A.H.
Tafsir al-Baghawi تفسیر البغوی
{هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْغَاشِيَةِ} يَعْنِي: قَدْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْقِيَامَةِ، تَغْشَى كُلَّ شَيْءٍ بِالْأَهْوَالِ.
i.e. Certainly the news of Doomsday has come to you which will traumatize everything with scare.

Tafsir al-Kabeer التفسیر الکبیر
إِنَّمَا قَالَ: هَلْ أَتاكَ وَذَلِكَ لِأَنَّهُ تَعَالَى عَرَّفَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مِنْ حَالِهَا، وَحَالِ النَّاسِ فِيهَا مَا لَمْ يَكُنْ هُوَ وَلَا قَوْمُهُ عَارِفًا بِهِ عَلَى التَّفْصِيلِ
The Almighty stated it in such a way (using the wording “Hal ataaka”) it is because Allah Almighty made the Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – aware of it (the doomsday) and about people’s condition in it, the details of which were neither known to him nor to his nation.
Tafsir al-Kabeer (Mafateeh al-Ghaib) of Imam Fakhruddin Muhammad ibn Umar al-Raazi al-Shafe’i t D. 606 A.H.
Tafsir al-Jalalain تفسیر الجلالین
{هَلْ} قَدْ {أَتَاك حَدِيث الْغَاشِيَة} الْقِيَامَة لِأَنَّهَا تَغْشَى الْخَلَائِق بِأَهْوَالِهَا
Has there — [there has] indeed — come to you the tiding of the Enveloper? the Resurrection, [so called] because it ‘envelops’ creatures with its terrors.

Tafsir al-Durr al-Manthoor تفسیر الدر المنثور
وَأخرج مَالك وَمُسلم وَأَبُو دَاوُد وَالنَّسَائِيّ وَابْن ماجة عَن النُّعْمَان بن بشير أَنه سُئِلَ بِمَ كَانَ النَّبِي صلى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسلم يقْرَأ فِي الْجُمُعَة مَعَ سُورَة الْجُمُعَة قَالَ: {هَل أَتَاك حَدِيث الغاشية}
Imam Malik, Muslim, Abu Dawood, Nasa’i and Ibn Majah recorded it from Sayyiduna Nu’man ibn Basheer – may Allah be pleased with him – where he was asked as to what the Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – used to recite along with Surah Al-Jumu’ah in the Jumu’ah Salah, and to that he replied, “Surah Al-Ghashiyah.”
