سَنُقْرِئُکَ فَلَا تَنۡسٰۤی ۙ﴿۶﴾

We shall now teach you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), so you will not forget.

Tafsir al-Matureedi                                         تفسیر الماتریدی                                

أي: سنحفظ عليك ما أوحينا إليك من القرآن فلا تنسى

i.e. We shall preserve for you the memory of Our Quranic revelations upon you, so you will not forget.

Tafsir al-Matureedi (Taweel Ahl al-Sunnah) of Imam Abu Mansoor Muhammad Ibn Muhammad al-Matureedi t D. 333 A.H.

Tafsir al-Kabeer                                                                                                             التفسیر الکبیر                        

قَالَ مُجَاهِدٌ وَمُقَاتِلٌ وَالْكَلْبِيُّ: كَانَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ إِذَا نَزَلَ عَلَيْهِ الْقُرْآنُ أَكْثَرَ تَحْرِيكَ لِسَانِهِ مَخَافَةَ أَنْ يَنْسَى، وَكَانَ جِبْرِيلُ لَا يَفْرَغُ مِنْ آخِرِ الْوَحْيِ حَتَّى يَتَكَلَّمَ هُوَ بِأَوَّلِهِ مَخَافَةَ النِّسْيَانِ

Sayyiduna Mujahid, Muqatil and Kalbi – may Allah be pleased with them – stated:  The Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – used to increase the recitation upon the revelation of the Holy Quran due to the fear of forgetting, and he would start the recitation from the beginning before Sayyiduna Jibreel – peace be upon him – could even completed the revelation.

Tafsir al-Qurtubi                                                                                                                                                                                      تفسیر القرطبی                                                    

هَذِهِ بُشْرَى مِنَ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى، بَشَّرَهُ بِأَنْ أَعْطَاهُ آيَةً بَيِّنَةً، وَهِيَ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ عَلَيْهِ جِبْرِيلُ مَا يَقْرَأُ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْوَحْيِ، وَهُوَ أُمِّيٍ لَا يَكْتُبُ وَلَا يَقْرَأُ، فَيَحْفَظُهُ وَلَا يَنْسَاهُ.

It was glad tiding from Allah Almighty.  He gave him the glad tiding that He has bestowed the clear signs upon him and that whatever Sayyiduna Jibreel – peace be upon him – would recite upon him – it would be the sacred revelation, that although he was unlettered; neither wrote or read, he will memorize it and not forget.

Tafsir Qurtubi (Al-Jame’ Li Ahkaam al-Quran) Imam Shamsuddin Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Qurtubi t D. 671 A.H.

Tafsir Rooh al-Bayaan                                                                                              تفسیر روح البیان                                                

روى عن جعفر الصادق رضى الله عنه انه عليه السلام كان يقرأ من الكتاب وان كان لا يكتب وفيه معجزة له عليه السلام فانه كان أميا وقد جعله الله قارئا ثم انه كان يقرأ من الحفظ ومن الصحيفة ايضا من غير تعلم الخط وكان منبع الكمالات كلها حتى انه علم الكتاب الخط وقوانينه وأصحاب الحرف دقائق حرفتهم

It is narrated from Imam Ja’fer Sadiq – may Allah be pleased with him – that the Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – used to recite from the book even though he could not write, which in itself is his miracle, for he was unlettered but Allah Almighty made him capable of reading.  He used to recite from memory and from the book as well without learning to write.  He was the fountain of all excellences, and he even taught the art of writing and its principles, calligraphy and its intricacies.
