For you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) are in this city.

Tafsir al-Tabari

Allah Almighty says to His beloved Prophet Muhammad – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him:  For you, O Muhammad, are in this city of Makkah.

Tafsir Al-Tabari (Tafsir Ibn Jareer / Jame’ al-Bayaan fi Taweel al-Quraan) of Imam Abu Ja’far Muhammad ibn Jareer al-Tabri t D. 310 A.H.

Tafsir al-Kabeer

For you are the inhabitant of this city and arrived there; it is as if Allah Almighty has exalted the status of Makkah Mukarramah due to the fact the he – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – resides there.

Tafsir al-Kabeer (Mafateeh al-Ghaib) of Imam Fakhruddin Muhammad ibn Umar al-Raazi al-Shafe’i t D. 606 A.H.

Sayyiduna Ibn ‘Abbas – may Allah be pleased with him – said:  The city was made Halal for him the day he entered Makkah Mukarramah in the sense that he had the authority to kill anyone he wished, so he killed ibn khatal and maqees ibn subabah and others as well.  It will not be permissible for anyone to kill anyone in this city after the Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him.

This Hadeeth is proven from the Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – that he stated:  Indeed Allah Almighty made the city of Makkah Haram the day He created the heavens and earth, so it will stay Haram (for anyone) until the Day of Judgment, so neither it was Halal for anyone before nor will it be Halal for anyone after me, and it is only made Halal for me for some time during the day.

Tafsir Qurtubi (Al-Jame’ Li Ahkaam al-Quran) Imam Shamsuddin Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Qurtubi t D. 671 A.H.

Tafsir al-Jalalain

For you, O Muhammad, have free disposal of, this land, in that you will be given permission to fight in it — and indeed Allah fulfilled this promise to him on the day of the Conquest of Makkah Mukarramah.

Tafsir al-Jalalain of Imam Jalaaluddin Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Mahalli al-Shafe’i t D. 864 A.H. and Imam Jalaaluddin Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Bakr al-Suyooti al-Shafe’i t D. 911 A.H.

Tafsir Rooh al-Bayaan

The exegetists have mentioned that there are four thousand names of the Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – through which Allah Almighty has mentioned him in the Holy Quran, some are apparent while some are symbolic.

For it adds more prominence to the city of Makkah, although it was an honourable city by itself but the arrival of the Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – in it added more to its honour.

The places that were blessed by the blessed feet of the Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him; the likes of Makkah Mukarramah and Madinah Munawwarah etc.

Tafsir Rooh al-Bayaan of Imam Isma’eel Haqqi ibn Mustafa al-Istanbuli Hanafi t D. 1127 A.H.
