وَ اَمَّا بِنِعْمَۃِ رَبِّکَ فَحَدِّثْ ﴿٪۱۱﴾

And abundantly proclaim the favours of your Lord.

Tafsir al-Baghawi                                                        تفسیر البغوی                            

عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ: مَنْ لَمْ يَشْكُرِ الْقَلِيلَ لَمْ يَشْكُرِ الْكَثِيرَ، وَمَنْ لَمْ يَشْكُرِ النَّاسَ لَمْ يَشْكُرِ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى، التَّحَدُّثُ بِنِعْمَةِ اللَّهِ شُكْرٌ، وَتَرْكُهُ كُفْرٌ، وَالْجَمَاعَةُ رَحْمَةٌ وَالْفُرْقَةُ عَذَابٌ

Sayyiduna Nu’man ibn Basheer – may Allah be pleased with him – reported:  I heard the Messenger of Allah – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – saying on the pulpit:  One who is not grateful for the little is not grateful even if he is granted in abundance, and one who is not grateful to people is not grateful to Allah.  Publicizing Allah’s blessings is a mode of gratitude and abandoning it is ungratefulness.  A team is a blessing while discord is punishment.

Tafsir al-Kabeer                                                                                                 التفسیر الکبیر                        

لَمَّا سُئِلَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلِيٌّ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ عَنِ الصَّحَابَةِ فَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِمْ وَذَكَرَ خِصَالَهُمْ، فَقَالُوا لَهُ: فَحَدِّثْنَا عَنْ نَفْسِكَ فَقَالَ: مَهْلًا، فَقَدْ نَهَى اللَّهُ عَنِ التَّزْكِيَةِ فَقِيلَ لَهُ: أَلَيْسَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى يَقُولُ: وَأَمَّا بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثْ فَقَالَ:فَإِنِّي أُحَدِّثُ، كُنْتُ إِذَا سُئِلْتُ أَعْطَيْتُ وَإِذَا سَكَتُّ ابْتَدَيْتُ، وَبَيْنَ الْجَوَانِحِ عِلْمٌ جَمٌّ فَاسْأَلُونِي

When the Muslim leader Sayyiduna ‘Ali – may Allah be pleased with him – was asked about the companions he praised them and mentioned their virtues.  People then said to him, “Tell us about yourself.”  He spoke softly, saying, “Allah Almighty has prohibited from self glorification” the it was said to him, “Is it not that Allah Almighty has stated:

وَ اَمَّا بِنِعْمَۃِ رَبِّکَ فَحَدِّثْ ﴿٪۱۱﴾

And abundantly proclaim the favours of your Lord.

(Al-Dhuha 93, Verse 11)

He said, “Then let me tell you, whenever I was asked for anything I gave away and whenever I kept quiet I started from the beginning, and between my two sides (in his heart) there lies great knowledge, so seek it from me.”

Tafsir al-Kabeer (Mafateeh al-Ghaib) of Imam Fakhruddin Muhammad ibn Umar al-Raazi al-Shafe’i t D. 606 A.H.

Tafsir al-Qurtubi                                                                                                                         تفسیر القرطبی                                                    

وَرَوَى النَّسَائِيُّ عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ نَضْلَةَ الْجُشَمِيِّ قَالَ: كُنْتُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَالِسًا، فَرَآنِي رَثَّ الثِّيَابِ فَقَالَ: أَلِكَ مال ، قلت: نَعَمْ، يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، مِنْ كُلِّ الْمَالِ. قَالَ: إِذَا آتَاكَ اللَّهُ مَالًا فَلْيُرَ أَثَرُهُ عَلَيْكَ

Imam Nasa’i recorded the narration of Sayyiduna Malik ibn Nadhlah al-Jushami – may Allah be pleased with them:  He said, “I was seated with the Messenger of Allah – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – and he saw me wearing tattered clothes so he said, ‘Do you have any wealth?’  I replied, ‘Yes, ya RasoolAllah, I do possess all kinds of assets.’  He stated, ‘When Allah Almighty has blessed you with wealth then its effects should be visible on you’.”

وَرَوَى أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: إن الله جميل يحب الجمال، ويجب أَنْ يَرَى أَثَرَ نِعْمَتِهِ عَلَى عَبْدِهِ

Sayyiduna Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri – may Allah be pleased with him – reported that the Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – has stated:  Indeed Allah is beautiful and loves beauty, and He loves to see the effect of his bounties on His servant.

Tafsir al-Jalalain                                                                                                                        تفسیر الجلالین                                                

{وَأَمَّا بنعمة ربك} عليك بالنبوة وغيره {فَحَدِّثْ} أَخْبِرْ

And as for your Lord’s grace upon you i.e. by way of prophethood and otherwise, so proclaim it i.e. make it known.
