اَلَمْ یَعْلَمْ بِاَنَّ اللہَ یَرٰی ﴿ؕ۱۴﴾

Did he not realise that Allah is watching?

Tafsir al-Qurtubi                                                                                                                         تفسیر القرطبی                                                    

أَلَمْ يَعْلَمْ أَبُو جَهْلٍ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ يَرَى، أَيْ يَرَاهُ وَيَعْلَمُ فِعْلَهُ

Did he – abu jahl – not know that Allah is watching i.e. He is watching and is well aware of his actions!

Tafsir al-Jalalain                                                                                                                        تفسیر الجلالین                                                

أَيْ اِعْجَبْ مِنْهُ يَا مُخَاطَب مِنْ حَيْثُ نَهْيه عَنْ الصَّلَاة وَمِنْ حَيْثُ أَنَّ الْمَنْهِيّ عَلَى الْهُدَى آمِر بِالتَّقْوَى وَمِنْ حَيْثُ أَنَّ النَّاهِي مُكَذِّب مُتَوَلٍّ عَنْ الْإِيمَان

He does [indeed] know it and will requite him for it. In other words, ‘Marvel, O you being addressed, at the way in which he forbids prayer, and at the fact that the one being forbidden is actually the one upon guidance, bidding to fear of Allah, while the one forbidding is a denier, disregarding faith’.
