اَرَءَیۡتَ اِنۡ کَذَّبَ وَ تَوَلّٰی ﴿ؕ۱۳﴾

What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state!

Tafsir al-Qurtubi                                                                                                                         تفسیر القرطبی                                                    

يَعْنِي أَبَا جَهْلٍ كَذَّبَ بِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ، وَأَعْرَضَ عَنِ الْإِيمَانِ.

i.e. abu jahl denied the book of Allah Almighty and turned away from Iman.

{أَرَأَيْت إِنْ كَذَّبَ} أَيْ النَّاهِي النَّبِيّ {وَتَوَلَّى} عن الإيمان

What is your opinion – about the one who stopped the Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – if he denies and turns away – from Iman, how wretched will be his state!
