اِنَّ الَّذِیۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا وَ عَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِۙ اُولٰٓئِکَ ہُمْ خَیۡرُ الْبَرِیَّۃِ ؕ﴿۷﴾

Indeed those who accepted faith and did good deeds – it is they who are the best among the creation.

Tafsir al-Tabari                                                             تفسیر الطبری                                

{إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا} [البقرة: 62] بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ مُحَمَّدٍ، وَعَبَدُوا اللَّهَ {وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ} [البينة: 5] ، وَأَقَامُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَآتُوا الزَّكَاةَ، وَأَطَاعُوا اللَّهَ فِيمَا أَمَرَ وَنَهَى {أُولَئِكَ هُمْ خَيْرُ الْبَرِيَّةِ} [البينة: 7] يَقُولُ: مَنْ فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ مِنَ النَّاسِ فَهُمْ خَيْرُ الْبَرِيَّةِ.

Indeed those who accepted faith (in Allah Almighty and His Prophet Sayyiduna Muhammad – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – and worshipped Allah Almighty) and did good deeds (i.e. established Salah, gave Zakah and obeyed Allah in His commands and abstained from sins) it is they who are the best among the creation (whoever amongst the entire creation does that, they all are the best of creation).

Tafsir al-Qurtubi                                                                                                                         تفسیر القرطبی                                                    

قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ: الْمُؤْمِنُ أَكْرَمُ عَلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مِنْ بَعْضِ الملائكة الذين عنده.

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah – may Allah be pleased with him – said:  A believer is even superior to some of the angels in the sight of Allah Almighty.

Tafsir al-Durr al-Manthoor                                                                              تفسیر الدر المنثور                                         

أخرج ابْن أبي حَاتِم عَن أبي هُرَيْرَة قَالَ: أتعجبون من منزلَة الْمَلَائِكَة من الله وَالَّذِي نَفسِي بِيَدِهِ لمنزلة العَبْد الْمُؤمن عِنْد الله يَوْم الْقِيَامَة أعظم من منزلَة ملك واقراؤا إِن شِئْتُم {إِن الَّذين آمنُوا وَعمِلُوا الصَّالِحَات أُولَئِكَ هم خير الْبَريَّة}

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah – may Allah be pleased with him – is reported to have said:  Do you marvel over the station of the angels in Allah’s court?  I swear by the one in whose Hand my life is, indeed the station of a believer will be even higher in Allah’s court on the Day of Judgment than that of an angel, and if you wish, you can quote this verse[].

وَأخرج ابْن مرْدَوَيْه عَن عَائِشَة قَالَت: قلت يَا رَسُول الله: من أكْرم الْخلق على الله قَالَ: يَا عَائِشَة أما تقرئين {إِن الَّذين آمنُوا وَعمِلُوا الصَّالِحَات أُولَئِكَ هم خير الْبَريَّة}

Sayyidah ‘Ayesha – may Allah be pleased with her – is reported to have said, “I asked, “O Allah’s Messenger, who is the most honoured creation in Allah’s court?”  He replied, “O ‘Ayesha, have you not recited (the verse):

اِنَّ الَّذِیۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا وَ عَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِۙ اُولٰٓئِکَ ہُمْ خَیۡرُ الْبَرِیَّۃِ ؕ﴿۷﴾

Indeed those who accepted faith and did good deeds – it is they who are the best among the creation.?”

استدل بالآية على ان البشر أفضل من الملك لظهور أن المراد بقوله ان الذين آمنوا هو البشر والبرية يشمل الملك والجن

It has been proven from this verse that a human can be superior to an angel, for the statement of Allah and its implication about the believers among creation is inclusive of the angels and jinns as well.
