اِنَّ الَّذِیۡنَ کَفَرُوۡا مِنْ اَہۡلِ الْکِتٰبِ وَ الْمُشْرِکِیۡنَ فِیۡ نَارِ جَہَنَّمَ خٰلِدِیۡنَ فِیۡہَا ؕ اُولٰٓئِکَ ہُمْ شَرُّ الْبَرِیَّۃِ ؕ﴿۶﴾

Indeed all disbelievers, the People of the Book(s) and the polytheists, are in the fire of hell – they will remain in it for ever; it is they who are the worst among the creation.

Tafsir al-Tabari                                                             تفسیر الطبری                                

{إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا} [البقرة: 6] بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَجَحَدُوا نُبُوَّتَهُ، مِنَ الْيَهُودِ وَالنَّصَارَى وَالْمُشْرِكِينَ جَمِيعِهِمْ {فِي نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا} [البينة: 6] يَقُولُ: مَاكِثِينَ، لَابِثِينَ فِيهَا أَبَدًا لَا يَخْرُجُونَ مِنْهَا، وَلَا يَمُوتُونَ فِيهَا {أُولَئِكَ هُمْ شَرُّ الْبَرِيَّةِ} [البينة: 6] ، يَقُولُ جَلَّ ثَنَاؤُهُ: هَؤُلَاءِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ وَالْمُشْرِكِينَ، هُمْ شَرُّ مَنْ بَرَأَهُ اللَّهُ وَخَلَقَهُ

Indeed all disbelievers (who disbelieved in Allah and His Messenger Sayyiduna Muhammad – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – and rejected his Prophethood; as all the jews, Christians and the polytheists) are in the fire of hell – they will remain in it for ever (they will not even be allowed to die in it let alone escaping); it is they who are the worst among the creation (Allah Almighty states i.e. these people of the book; the jews and Christians and the polytheists who disbelieved, are the worst amongst all the things Allah Almighty has created.

لأفادة الحصر اى هم شر البرية دون غيرهم كيف لاوهم شر من السراق لأنهم سرقوا من كتاب الله نعوت محمد عليه السلام وشر من قطاع الطريق لأنهم قطعوا الدين الحق على الخلق وشر من الجهال الأجلاف لأن الكفر مع العلم يكون كفر عناد فيكون أقبح من كفر الجهال وظهر منه أن وعيد العلماء السوء أعظم من وعيد كل أحد ومن تاب منهم واسلم خرج من الوعيد

(They are the worst of creation) it is said about their exclusive status i.e. they are the worst of creation and no one is like them!  And why would it not be such, for they are even worse than thieves because they stole from the Book of Allah the praises of Sayyiduna Muhammad – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him, they are even worse than a highway robber, for they robbed the path of creation of the true religion, they are even worse than the uncivil ignorant because the kufr, despite having knowledge, stems from hatred, so it is worse than the kufr of an ignorant, and from this, it is evident that the severity of the corrupt scholars is worst of all.  The one who repented and embraced Islam is exempted from this punishment.
