نَارٌ حَامِيَةٌ

It is a fire, intensely hot.

Tafsir al-Kabeer                                                                                                             التفسیر الکبیر                        

وَالْمَعْنَى أَنَّ سَائِرَ النِّيرَانِ بِالنِّسْبَةِ إِلَيْهَا كَأَنَّهَا لَيْسَتْ حَامِيَةً، وَهَذَا الْقَدْرُ كَافٍ فِي التَّنْبِيهِ عَلَى قُوَّةِ سُخُونَتِهَا، نَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنْهَا وَمِنْ جَمِيعِ أَنْوَاعِ الْعَذَابِ، وَنَسْأَلُهُ التَّوْفِيقَ وَحُسْنَ الْمَآبِ رَبَّنَا وَآتِنَا مَا وَعَدْتَنَا عَلَى رُسُلِكَ وَلَا تُخْزِنَا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ إِنَّكَ لَا تُخْلِفُ الْمِيعَادَ.

It means that the rest of hell compared to it is not hot.  This magnitude is enough to signify its severe heat.  We seek Allah’s refuge from t and from all forms of punishment.  We ask for His Divine help and good end.  O our Lord, grant us what You have promised us upon Your Messengers, and do not disgrace us on the Day of Judgment, for indeed You do not break the promise.
