A rope made from palm fiber around her neck!
Tafsir al-Qurtubi
Sayyiduna Hasan – may Allah be pleased with him – said: They are ropes from a tree that grows in Yemen by the named of Al-Masad.
Sayyiduna Dhahhak and others – may Allah be pleased with them – said, “She used to humiliate the Holy Prophet – may Allah send peace and blessings upon him – over poverty while she herself used to make bundles of wood and tie them with rope and hang it by her neck. Allah Almighty caused her to die with the rope around her neck. In the hereafter, she will have chain of hellfire around her neck.”
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas – may Allah be pleased with him – is reported to have said about the verse in a narration of Abu Saleh: It is a chain which will stretch 70 yards in length. Sayyiduna Mujahid and ‘Urwah ibn al-Zubair – may Allah be pleased with them said: It will enter through her mouth and come out through the bottom. The remainder will be wrapped around her neck.

Tafsir Rooh al-Bayaan
When Surah Lahab was revealed, she came to her brother Abu Sufyan to his house in a fit of fury and said to him, “Do you not feel remorse, O lion, that Muhammad (may Allah send peace and blessings upon him) has spoken ill of me?” Abu Sufyan – may Allah be pleased with him – said, “I will bring his head just now.” He took his sword and left but returned just as quickly. Umm Jameel asked, “Did you kill him?” He replied, “Do you like it if my head becomes feast for a python?” She said, “I swear by Allah, I do not wish for that.” Sayyiduna Abu Sufyan – may Allah be pleased with him – said, “Just earlier when I left, I saw a python with its mouth open, if I moved any closer to Muhammad (may Allah send peace and blessings upon him) I would have become a feast for the python.”
(Note: Sayyiduna Abu Sufyan – may Allah be pleased with him – was blessed with Islam while she died as an infidel)
