Surah Al-Naas 114  : Verse No. 3

سورۃ الناس 114 : آیۃ 3

اِلٰہِ النَّاسِ ۙ﴿۳﴾

The God of all mankind.

 

Tafsir al-Tabari                                                                          تفسیر الطبری

مَعْبُودِ النَّاسِ، الَّذِي لَهُ الْعِبَادَةُ دُونَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ سِوَاهُ

Worthy of people’s worship.  It is He who is worthy of worship over everything besides Him.

Tafsir Al-Tabari (Tafsir Ibn Jareer / Jame’ al-Bayaan fi Taweel al-Quraan) of Imam Abu Ja’far Muhammad ibn Jareer al-Tabri t D. 310 A.H.

 

Tafsir al-Kabeer                                                                                                                        التفسیر الکبیر

إِلهِ النَّاسِ لِأَنَّ الْإِلَهَ خَاصٌّ بِهِ وَهُوَ سُبْحَانُهُ لَا يُشْرِكُهُ فِيهِ غَيْرُهُ

“God of all mankind” because being “worthy of worship” is indeed exclusive to Him alone, and He, the Glorified One, does not have any partner besides Him in it.

Tafsir al-Kabeer (Mafateeh al-Ghaib) of Imam Fakhruddin Muhammad ibn Umar al-Raazi al-Shafe’i t D. 606 A.H.

 

Tafsir al-Qurtubi                                                                                                                                                           تفسیر القرطبی

وَفِي النَّاسِ مَنْ يَعْبُدُ غَيْرَهُ، فَذَكَرَ أَنَّهُ إِلَهُهُمْ وَمَعْبُودُهُمْ، وَأَنَّهُ الَّذِي يَجِبُ أَنْ يُسْتَعَاذَ بِهِ وَيُلْجَأَ إليه، دون الملوك والعظماء.

And there are some amongst the people who worship others therefore he mentioned that indeed, He is their God and worthy of their worship, and it is He to seek refuge in and beg Him instead of turning to kings and dignitaries.

Tafsir al-Baidawi                                                                                                                                                         تفسیر البیضاوی

أنه المستحق للعبادة لا غير

It is indeed He who is worthy of worship and none besides Him.

معبودهم

Worthy of their worship.

Tafsir Rooh al-Bayaan                                                                                                            تفسیر روح البیان

واله الناس لبيان حال البقاء بالله لان الا له هو المعبود المطلق وذلك هو الذات مع جميع الصفات فلما فنى العبد فى الله ظهر كونه ملكا ثم رده الله الى الوجود لمقام العبودية

And “God of all mankind” is to state that the existence is only through Allah, for Allah is the absolute worthy of worship, and it is the Divine Being which encompasses all attributes, so when the servant loses himself in Allah he realizes His Mastery then Allah reinstates him to existence on the station of devotion.

Tafsir al-Mazhari                                                                                                         تفسیر المظہری

قال غوث الثقلين:

أيدركني صنم وأنت ظهرى

أأظلم فى الدنيا وأنت نصيرى

Sayyiduna Ghawth al-Thaqalain – may Allah be pleased with him – has stated:

Can any disgrace approach me while I have Your backing?!

Can I be oppressed in the world while You are my Helper?!
